Alex Daryl McDonald Straker was born May
15, 1969 to Patricia
J. Straker
and Donald Walcott
in the sunny island of Barbados,
West Indies. He was taken from this world on August 23, 2004.
Alex was also a wonderful
father to his son Tai-chi whom he loved and held so close to his
heart.
Alex attended St. Mathias
Boys School and the Garrison
Secondary School before migrating
to the United States
in November 1986. He also attended Wingate
High School and Kingsborough
Community College. Alex
continued his education by earning his Associates Degree in Liberal Arts
from the Borough of Manhattan Community College.
Alex was a very active
soccer player where he earned many trophies and certificates for his skills
on the field. When he wasn’t on the soccer field, he spent his time working
for Sand and Stone Inc. in Philadelphia
as a stone maker. He also worked for ATC Associates as an air sampling
technician in New York for
a brief period of time.
In Lehigh
Valley soccer, Alex
played for Olimpia since 2002 and was a member
of their championship team. He also played for Atletico
Tikal in the Latin Summer League since 2003.
